A truly beautiful vintage 1950s two-piece formal set featuring a dramatic black strapless evening gown accompanied by its coordinating cropped cape-style jacket. This is a wonderful example of mid-century eveningwear with an elegant silhouette that feels timeless more than 70 years later.

The gown features a fitted strapless bodice with extensive gathered and ruched detailing, creating a flattering sculpted effect through the torso. The bodice transitions into a beautifully full, sweeping skirt with plenty of movement and classic 1950s drama. A vintage metal zipper at the back completes the dress.

The coordinating cropped jacket/cape has short, softly flared sleeves and an open front, allowing it to sit beautifully over the strapless neckline. It also provides additional coverage over the upper bodice and underarm area.

No brand or size label was located during our inspection. Based on visual assessment, the gown appears approximately comparable to an Extra Small, but this is an estimate only and should not be used to determine fit. Please use the garment measurements below.

IMPORTANT CONDITION DISCLOSURE

This garment dates to approximately the 1950s and shows signs of its age and previous wear.

The underarm area of the dress has some discoloration/staining with a reddish tone from previous wear. This is not especially prominent when the garment is viewed as a whole and becomes considerably less visible when the coordinating cropped jacket is worn, but the discoloration is present and is being specifically disclosed.

The coordinating jacket also shows visible signs of age and previous wear, particularly on the interior. Additional age-related surface wear and variations may be present throughout both pieces.

During our inspection, we did not observe notable holes or significant loose threads, but this should not be interpreted to mean the garment is flawless. It is approximately seven decades old and should be purchased with appropriate expectations for authentic vintage clothing.
